Larry L. King Theatre marquee
Austin Playhouse commissioned me to design and create the theatre marquee for their second theatre space named after playwright Larry L. King, who wrote "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas". I chose to incorporate Larry's likeness into the design. Since the marquee was so large, I had to cut it out in two sections and weld them together. I then powder-coated it and backed with a sheet of copper so the face and lettering would be easy to see.

Finished, installed sign. Mounted to the roof on a custom built frame and angle iron supports welded to the back.

I also made a small version of the marquee to be given to Larry during the unveiling.
The completed marquee before going to power coating.
I had to cut the marquee in two sections due to my 4' table width limitation. Then welded together. This is the lower section.
...and the upper section still being cut on the table. The face looks a little scary without the copper backing :).
